Seeking Full-Time Paralegal
SBH Legal is a litigation firm located in downtown Portland that emphasizes representation of employers, insurers, and claims administrators in all matters relating to employment including worker’s compensation, Longshore, OSHA, wage and hour, discrimination, and related litigation. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Workers’ Compensation Paralegal.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers with day-to-day tasks relating to workers’ compensation litigation
- Organize, index, and analyze medical records and other file materials
- Docket and track deadlines
- Perform medical and public record research including requesting physician, hospital, and pharmacy records
- Prepare pleadings, exhibits, discovery responses, and subpoenas for attorney review
- Carry a caseload of approximately 100 – 120 active files with multiple responsible attorneys
- Assist clients in selection and scheduling of independent medical examinations
- Manage time sensitive work, including deadlines, calendaring and docketing
Qualifications
- Two years of experience as a paralegal preferably in workers’ compensation / insurance defense
- Practical knowledge of timekeeping software

- Respond to inquiries about technical issues via phone, email, chat, or in person
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical hurdles, bugs, and software and hardware issues
- Provide step-by-step instructions and documentation to help users solve problems
- Install, configure, and sustain ongoing usability of desktop/laptop computers, peripheral equipment, and software
- Escalate complex technical problems to IT Administrator as needed
- Keep record of problems and solutions for future reference
- Follow up with users to ensure they are satisfied with IT service and resolutions
- Communicate user feedback with appropriate internal teams

Seeking Full-Time Accounting Manager

We are seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to join our team. This position is hybrid eligible and would work in-office at least two days per week. The Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the firm’s Office Administrator on all aspects of our accounting function. They will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Client Billing team of two, providing guidance and mentorship
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and firm guidelines
- Daily review of all transactions including oversight of Positive Pay process
- Reconcile and expense firm credit cards
- Manage wire and ACH transactions
- Monthly account reconciliations and month-end / year-end close
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and profitability reports, providing accurate and timely reporting to Office Administrator and stakeholders
- Trust accounting
- Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance, coordinating with external CPAs
- 401K payroll upload and annual census
- Miscellaneous tasks and responsibilities
Qualifications
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- 2+ years supervising others
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Extreme attention to detail
- Organization, time management, and excellent communication skills
- Proficient using QuickBooks, Excel, and Word
- Accounting Seed experience a plus
- Working knowledge of client billing and collections
