We are seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate has 1-5 years of workers’ compensation experience. The position requires a strong academic and professional record, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational and time management skills. This position is remote eligible. Oregon or Washington Bar membership required.

Seeking Full-time Workers’ Compensation Paralegal

SBH Legal is a litigation firm located in downtown Portland that emphasizes representation of employers, insurers, and claims administrators in all matters relating to employment including worker’s compensation, Longshore, OSHA, wage and hour, discrimination and related litigation. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Workers’ Compensation Paralegal.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist lawyers on day-to-day tasks relating to workers’ compensation litigation
  • Organize, index, and analyze medical records and other file materials
  • Docket and track deadlines
  • Perform medical and public record research including requesting physician, hospital, and pharmacy records
  • Prepare pleadings, exhibits, discovery responses, and subpoenas for attorney review
  • Carry a caseload of approximately 100 – 120 active files with multiple responsible attorneys
  • Assist clients in selection and scheduling of independent medical examinations
  • Manage time sensitive work, meeting deadlines, calendaring and docketing

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as a paralegal preferably in workers’ compensation / insurance defense or an adjacent field
  • Practical knowledge of timekeeping software
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and to prioritize and manage your own time

Seeking Full-Time HR Assistant

We are currently seeking a full-time HR Assistant.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assisting with and coordinating coverage for Legal Assistants and Paralegals out on PTO.
  • Assisting with and coordinating file count for Paralegals, identifying files to reassign and acting as point for communication to impacted parties.
  • Interfacing with candidates to schedule interviews.
  • Processing network access requests.
  • Completing data entry on benefits sites for all hires, changes and terms.
  • Assisting with onboarding and offboarding activities, including completing data entry to professional sites, scheduling onboarding activities and meetings, etc.
  • Processing credit card expense reports for the Admin team.
  • Processing internal document updates and keeping intranet pages up to date.
  • Other HR and Admin duties and projects as needed.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 1-2 years of HR experience, preferably in a law firm.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Has a high level of attention to detail.
  • Can manage competing priorities and is very well-organized.
  • Has strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Takes the initiative to solve problems but knows when to seek guidance, and can also follow instructions and established processes.
  • Has experience working with confidential information.

Seeking Full-Time Office Services  Team Member

SBH is a litigation firm located in downtown Portland that emphasizes representation of employers, insurers, and claims administrators in all matters relating to employment including workers’ compensation, Longshore, OSHA, wage and hour, discrimination and related litigation.

We are seeking a full-time Office Services member to join our team. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing and logging incoming documents arriving via mail, fax or email; creating document entries in our case management system, accurately capturing necessary information, and directing the document(s) to the appropriate staff.
  • Processing outgoing mail, including printing documents, preparing packaging, metering, and sending within the daily mail deadline.
  • Running point on keeping common areas tidy and stocked, including loading and unloading the dishwasher, ensuring the coffee machine is stocked up and ready to use, periodically making sure the lounge area is free from clutter and food debris.
  • Restocking common areas throughout the building with frequently used items.
  • Acting as point person for all CD management, including creating copies, organizing, tracking destruction schedules, and processing archived material ready for destruction.
  • Providing phone and front door coverage as needed.
  • Other administrative duties and projects as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to self-audit to ensure a low level of clerical errors.
